Round, like a circle in a spiral,
Like a wheel within a wheel.
Never ending or beginning,
On an ever spinning wheel.
Like a snowball down a mountain
Or a carnival balloon,
Like a carousel that’s turning
Running rings around the moon.
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Past the minutes on it’s face,
And the world is like an apple
Whirling silently in space.
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind.
Like a tunnel that you follow
To a tunnel of it’s own,
Down a hollow to a cavern
Where the sun has never shone.
Like a door that keeps revolving
In a half forgotten dream,
Or the ripples from a pebble
Someone tosses in a stream.
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Past the minutes on it’s face,
And the world is like an apple
Whirling silently in space.
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind.
Keys that jingle in your pocket
Words that jangle your head.
Why did summer go so quickly
Was it something that I said?
Lovers walk along the shore,
Leave their footprints in the sand,
Was the sound of distant drumming
Just the fingers of your hand.
Pictures hanging in a hallway
And a fragment of this song,
Half remembered names and faces
But to whom do they belong?
When you knew that it was over
Were you suddenly aware
That the autumn leaves were turning
To the colour of her hair?
Like a circle in a spiral,
Like a wheel within a wheel,
Never ending or beginning,
On an ever spinning wheel.
As the images unwind,
Like the circles that you find,
In the windmills of your mind.
The Lyric ‘Windmills of your mind’ was written by Sting and featured as theme to the film, The Thomas Crown Affair.

Nice shots. Love the windmills on the hills. Have a great weekend.
The new type are so sleek, it doesn’t look like they would work as good. But they must be better.
Aren’t they so hypnotic
Saw some of these windmills in CA – very interesting. And their sound is unique. A lovely series of photos illustrating cool lyrics.

Great poem and beautiful skywatch pictures featuring the windmills. I wish we had a lot more wind mills.
The lyrics match the photos perfectly! Very nice shots! I have never seen the film “The Thomas Crown Affair” but it has a beautiful poem as a theme.
Thanks for sharing
Have a very happy weekend!
Lovely shots. I always find these structures quite attractive though many dislike them
I love the ‘High on the Mountains’ shot in particular – you could almost think they were ancient statues.
Great to discover your blog – Crete is an unknown area for me.
Awesome photos!
It makes me so happy to see windmills! One GREAY way to create power!
Hi,
I enjoyed the photos of the wind turbines. As a point of interest, Windmills of My Mind was not written by Sting. The words and music by Alan Bergman, Marilyn Bergman and Michel Legrand are from the 1968 film The Thomas Crown Affair. Noel Harrison performed the song for the film score. It won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1968. It was recorded again by Sting when The Thomas Crown Affair was redone with Pierce Brosnan in the lead role in 1999. Have a great week.
